Who I help

Does any of this sound familiar?

You're intelligent, capable, and successful in many areas of your life—but anxiety, depression, ADHD, or relationship challenges are making it difficult to enjoy the life you want to be living.

Perhaps you've tried to push through on your own. Maybe you've even been to therapy before. But despite your efforts, you still feel stuck.

You don't just want someone to listen. You want practical strategies, effective tools, and a structured approach that leads to meaningful, lasting change.

If this sounds like you, you're in the right place.

How I Work

Therapy should give you more than someone to talk to. It should give you practical tools, a clear roadmap, and the support to move forward with greater confidence.

My approach is structured, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based treatment. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), one of the most extensively researched and effective forms of psychotherapy available today. Together, we'll identify the feelings, thoughts and behaviors, that keep you stuck—and develop practical strategies to help you move forward.

For anxiety, I incorporate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), helping you gradually face feared situations in a supportive, structured way. Avoidance fuels anxiety; learning to face it is what breaks the cycle.

For ADHD, I use a highly structured, skills-based approach that begins with understanding how ADHD affects your executive functioning, and focuses on your specific challenges with organization, time management, prioritization, procrastination, and managing distractions. We also address the self-critical thinking and discouragement that so often accompany ADHD while helping you develop practical strategies to respond more effectively. Above all, I believe therapy should be active, practical, and tailored to your individual goals-so you leave each session with greater clarity, effective tools, and the confidence that you’re making real progress, not just talking about it.

About Karen

For more than 25 years, I've worked with adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, health concerns, grief, and life's inevitable ups and downs. My goal is to provide therapy that is both compassionate and practical—helping you better understand the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be contributing to your difficulties so you can make meaningful, lasting changes.

I began my career in community mental health and completed postgraduate training in couples and family therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. I later worked in Corporate HR in Management Development and Training before returning to full-time clinical practice. I went on to serve as a family therapist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and as an Academic Performance Coach and Counselor at Hunter College, where I worked extensively with students with ADHD, learning differences, and physical disabilities. Together, these experiences have given me a broad perspective on the unique experiences, strengths, and challenges my clients bring. They have also shaped the collaborative, evidence-based approach I bring to therapy.

I believe professional growth is an ongoing process. I am Level 3 certified in TEAM-CBT through the Feeling Good Institute and have spent years participating in advanced TEAM training and consultation groups to continue refining my skills. I have also completed advanced training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders.

As someone who has lived with low vision for most of my life, I understand what it means to adapt to unexpected challenges and to keep moving forward when life doesn't go as planned. Living with a disability has deepened my empathy, strengthened my adaptability, and reinforced the importance of focusing on what is possible rather than what stands in the way. That experience informs how I show up for my clients every day.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply looking for a different way forward, therapy can help. Together, we'll work to understand what's keeping you stuck, build on your strengths, and develop practical strategies that help you move toward the life you want.
